What Happens Next?

Frequently Asked Questions

I have my DSA2 letter with North East NMH listed as my provider - what do I do next?
Complete our short form here - we will assign your support worker within 2 working days. We'll contact you with all the details you need, then you and your mentor/tutor can arrange your first session.
Can I have my support online?
Yes, we offer online support nationwide.
Can I have my support in person?
Yes, if you are attending a university in the northeast, York or Leeds.
Do I have to pay anything for my support?
No - your support is entirely funded through DSA.
Will I meet with the same person each session?
Yes, you will meet with the same mentor or tutor each week, as we understand how important consistency is, and this enables you to build an effective working relationship with your support worker. The only exceptions are if you request a change (which is absolutely fine) or unforeseeable circumstances such as illness.
How often do I have sessions?
You are usually recommended enough hours per academic year to access one hour of mentoring and/or one hour of study skills per week in term time.
What will happen in my first session?
In your introductory session, your mentor/tutor will explain what they can help with; you can either get started straight away if you have work/planning to do, or you can simply have a chat to get to know each other or discuss what's on your mind.
